The fourth cable in the Level 2 range the Chimera Signature, like the Chimera is constructed of extruded silver over OCC single crystal copper. The key difference between the Chimera & the Chimera Signature lyes in its design. While the Chimera is designed to work with source components, the Chimera Signature features higher current delivery, so is designed to work with Power Amplifiers, larger Integrated Amplifiers, or mains blocks.
The Chimera Signature also features one additional grounding cable, which is spiralled separately around the main cable itself, offering superior isolation. Inside the cable the signature model also offers an extra conductor (like the Nemesis Signature) which offers even better current delivery.
Not only is the cable meticulously designed, but the dialectic was given equal attention. PTFE or teflon is widely regarded as the best dialectic, and one of the lowest constants currently available; the next best thing to free air. This cable is designed to be used with amplifiers and as such has exceptional current delivery up to three times better than standard or competitors cables.
OCC is often referred to as continuous casting, as the cable is one continuous single crystal which allow the electrons to flow easily through it. With standard copper, when magnified the copper contains millions of crystals, with the flow of electricity having to pass through each individual crystal. This then reduces the flow of electrons through the cable. OCC is the best copper conductor available as the cable strands are one continuous crystal, meaning the electricity can flow through it easily, allowing for elections to flow without impedance. By designing this cable with extruded silver over OCC, they have managed to bring the sound quality much closer to the more expensive Nemesis cables while keeping the price very competitive. The signature model also offers an extra conductor (like the Nemesis Signature) which offers even better current delivery.
The cable then acts as a filter against disturbances in the AC mains supply. This results on a much lower background noise (creating inky black silences), cleaner and sweeter sound in the high frequencies and more depth and control in the bass frequencies. It also leads to enhanced detail retrieval.
The Chimera cable is twisted and like the Elektra/Eros models is sheathed in a PTFE dialectic with aluminium foil and a drain wire to reduce the effect of RFI and EMI interference, both mains borne and airborne. It is sheathed in an attractive black woven material and it is fitted with a bespoke silver plated IEC Plug with a carbon fibre casing.
