The Aavik C-380 is the flagship preamplifier of Aavik's 380 series, designed around the work of Michael Børresen. It is far more than a line stage. Inside one billet-aluminium chassis sits a pure analogue preamp, a full reference phono stage, and two separate DACs: one dedicated to PCM, one to DSD, so every format is decoded by circuitry built specifically for it rather than a single chip stretched across both.
 
The heart of it is the noise-reduction technology Aavik is famous for, developed with sister company Ansuz: active Tesla-coil circuits that cancel electrical noise inside the unit itself and drop the noise floor to a level almost nothing else reaches. A resonant-mode power supply feeds the whole design with the same obsession for silence. The phono stage is a genuine reference in its own right, quiet enough to run high-gain into a low-output moving-coil cartridge against a completely black background.
 
Partner it with a power amplifier of similar calibre and you have the entire front-end of a world-class system in one box: source, phono and control, voiced as one. Preamplifiers at this level rarely come up pre-loved, and very little gets close to what it does.
