Philosophy: The 15th anniversary evolution of Denafrips’ hugely popular mid-tier DAC, built on the belief that a true resistor-ladder (R-2R) converter sounds more natural and analogue than a chip-based design.
Performance: An expansive, layered soundstage with an analogue-like ease, a very quiet background and excellent separation between instruments. The kind of DAC that invites long listening rather than analysis.
Technology: True balanced, dual-mono R-2R ladder conversion with an independent high-speed FPGA per channel and four sets of 0.005% precision R-2R networks. FIFO buffer reclocking and OCXO crystal clocks for very low jitter, user-selectable NOS or OS modes, and box-in-box construction isolating the linear power supply with twin O-core transformers. Handles PCM up to 1536kHz and DSD1024, with a full set of inputs including USB, I2S, AES, coax and optical.
