The Naim Mu-so Qb 2nd Generation packs a genuine music system into one beautifully made aluminium cube. Behind the grille sits a three-way stereo array, its midrange and bass drivers co-developed with Naim's sister company Focal and driven by 300 watts of amplification: a forward-firing woofer backed by twin side-firing passive radiators for the low end, with angled midrange drivers and soft-dome tweeters throwing a surprisingly wide, spacious stereo image. For its size, the scale and punch it produces are genuinely hard to believe.
 
What lifts it above the usual wireless speaker is the streaming platform inside, the very same one Naim developed for its full-size systems right up to their flagship players. That means effortless high-resolution streaming, with AirPlay 2, Chromecast, Spotify Connect, Tidal Connect, Bluetooth and Roon Ready all on board, plus optical and analogue inputs for a television or turntable, and multiroom playback across other Naim units. All of it is controlled through Naim's superb app or the tactile dial on top, and it carries the sense of rhythm and timing Naim are rightly famous for.
