REL have spent decades perfecting the art of the subwoofer, and the S/510 sits at the heart of their acclaimed Serie S. It pairs a 10-inch forward-firing ContinuousCast alloy driver, stiffened with carbon-fibre bracing on the rear, with a 12-inch down-firing passive radiator, so it reaches genuinely deep, down to 20Hz, with a scale and authority that belie its compact cabinet. Driving it is a 500-watt Class D amplifier with substantial reserves in hand, giving the S/510 the speed and grip to start and stop on a note rather than simply adding weight.
 
What truly sets a REL apart is how it connects. The signature high-level input takes its feed from your amplifier's own speaker terminals, so the subwoofer hears exactly what your main speakers hear and blends with them seamlessly, filling in the foundation of the music rather than sitting beneath it as a separate voice. Low-level and balanced inputs are there too for home cinema, along with REL's PerfectFilter and PureTheatre filtering, and the build matches the performance: rail-mounted, immaculately finished, with polished stainless handles and a solid aluminium top.
 
The result is bass that serves the music first: tight, tuneful and utterly integrated, with the slam for films when you want it. Finished in gloss white.
