A DAC unlike almost any other: one that turns every signal you feed it into pure DSD, right up to DSD1024.
The CEN.GRAND DSDAC 1.0 is the result of five years of development, and it takes a fundamentally different path to the conventional converter. Rather than using an off-the-shelf DAC chip, it does all its processing in an FPGA with discrete analogue circuitry, and it upsamples every incoming signal, PCM and DSD alike, all the way to DSD1024 using CEN.GRAND's own high-precision frequency-raising algorithm. The result is a remarkably pure, analogue-like sound that sidesteps the digital signature so many DACs impose.
Two further technologies set it apart. A synchronous direct clock feeds the built-in femtosecond clock straight to the conversion stage with nothing in between, so the clock's precision is carried directly onto the analogue output. Clock-blocking technology then discards the clock of whatever is feeding it, a CD transport or a streamer, so that source's timing errors simply cannot reach the sound. This Advanced version goes further than the standard model still, with an upgraded clock system measuring jitter as low as 100 femtoseconds, a more sophisticated digital and analogue circuit, and a fully optimised power supply.
The upshot is a converter of striking transparency, precision and silence, one that makes every source you own sound its very best. A genuinely distinctive high-end DAC, finished in silver.
